In addition to our dress-up days, we will organize a Food Drive to help stock our district’s food pantry for PreK-6th grade students. This program supports students in need and provides supplemental nutrition over the weekend. Donations may be sent with your child. There will be members of PTO at our car and bus lines each morning to collect donations throughout the week. Please see the schedule below for each day’s theme and the food item we are collecting on that day. We also appreciate monetary donations.

Brookland Unified Sports is becoming a huge deal! You may be wondering what "Unified Sports" even is. Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. A team is composed of students with mild/moderate disabilities as well as able bodied athletes. It's a 50/50 split! Although it falls under the umbrella of Special Olympics, it is a more competitive competition. Unified Sports are state sanctioned and our school competes against other schools in various different sports. The teams have to do well to move on, just like any other sport. We practice and travel to various different places. We have (so far) competed in softball, basketball, bowling, and track and field. Our bowling team actually qualified to compete in the state bowling tournament. That team walked away as state champions! (see the picture of those awesome kids below) We're looking to add more and more sports as we get more familiar with the Unified program. If you would like to learn more about it, click on the link below.
This year, we are selling shirts to raise money for different costs for our Special Olympic/Unified program. Here is the link to our school store. It will be availabel until October 28th. Thank you so much for your support in our program!
