Parents and Guardians,
All bus routes (Including 79 & 97) are safe and clear to travel this afternoon. Thank you so much for your patience.

Just a reminder that scoliosis screenings for 6th grade girls will be on April 10th and 11th. In order for your child to opt out, a written note is required.

Parents and Guardians,
Bus Route 79 still has sections that are underwater. The bus will not travel through these unsafe areas this afternoon. Route 97 is clear for buses to pass. Thank you!

If you received a text or voicemail today regarding your child's lunch status changing. That change was made due to your student(s) being on the list provided to the district from the state. Most likely, your child(ren) receives Medicaid. If you have any questions, please reach out to Wendy Pannell at wpannell@bpsbearcats.com

Parents and guardians,
Bus routes 79 and 97 have areas that are underwater making it unsafe for the buses to travel through. If this area is still underwater in the morning, a bus will not be able to pick up your children. If you cannot get your child to school safely, please call your child's building, and we will excuse their absence. Your child's safety is of utmost importance to all of us. Be careful!

Mrs. Chastain’s Literacy classes wrapped up the novel "A Long Walk to Water" this week. Nya, a young girl from Sudan, walks for hours each day to fetch water for her family. Students experienced, in a small way, the difficulty of balancing jugs of water on their heads. The theme of the story is to overcome difficulties, persevere, and remain hopeful in challenging situations. Students have enjoyed this humbling tale of resilience and learned a great deal from this novel study.

Last week Ms. Rains’s 5th grade Literacy students finished reading their class novel, Wishtree, written by Katherine Applegate. Throughout the novel study, they added special characters to a replica of their very own “wishtree” in Ms. Rains’s room. Students designed their very own red oak leaves. They also made their own wishes just like the characters in the novel. Students have been working diligently on their one-pager projects to show their understanding of the plot, characters, theme, and big ideas from the novel. Our 5th graders worked so hard to bring this book to life!
