
This past Friday, Special Olympics Basketball for Area 7 was hosted at Bearcat Arena. We had visitors on campus from Jonesboro schools, Nettleton, Westside, and Harrisburg. They participated, along with our Brookland students, in various skill drills during the competition. We also hosted several adult day programs in the afternoon for traditional basketball and skills. Athletes from Focus, Pathfinders, Jonesboro Human Development Center, Central Baptist, and several independent players participated. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event great!

Brookland Trap team competed in a tournament Saturday in Harrisburg. This was a "squad scoring event" where 5 shooters compete together for a high overall score. Brookland JR1 squad finished in 2nd place, Brookland SR2 squad finished in 2nd place, and Mason Goodrich shot his first perfect round!

Three artworks were selected from Brookland’s 7th and 8th grade students to compete in the Northeast Regional Art Competition this past Saturday at Arkansas State University. Leah Burrier received first place for 7th grade with her “Blobby Lisa” and Khadijah Khokhar place second with “Mountain with Flowing River”. Also featured is Genovive McLain with her artwork in the gallery at ASU. Congratulations to these young artists!

The Odyssey of the Mind 8th grade team placed first and the 7th grade team placed 2nd at GCT last Saturday which qualified them for the state competition at Hendrix College later this Spring. Congratulations and good luck at state!!

Bearcat trap tram shot in a trap tournament today in Jonesboro where students shot for individual scores. Out of 96 entries, We had 34 7-12th graders competing. Excellent turnout by the Bearcats and it was the very first tournament experience for 9 new to the team.
3 Bearcats stood out and took home medals:

-SubJR Handicap champion
Handicap division you shoot from farther back based on your average in singles division.
All of your Bearcat trap team members had a great day with many personal best scores as well.

Enterceptor is hosting Hacktopia, a cyber hack-a-thon specifically designed for middle school students in grades 6th - 8th. This event aims to introduce young minds to the fascinating world of cybersecurity while providing them with a unique and engaging hands-on experience. We believe that students would greatly benefit from participating in this event. No prior skills are necessary.
This is a fantastic opportunity for your students.Hacktopia will provide:
1. Educational Value: The hack-a-thon is crafted to provide valuable insights into cybersecurity concepts, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
2. Hands-On Experience: Students will have the chance to apply what they learn in a practical setting, fostering a deeper understanding of cybersecurity principles.
3. Inspiration for Future Careers: Exposure to real-world cybersecurity challenges can ignite a passion for technology and open doors to potential career paths in STEM fields.
4. Networking Opportunities: Hacktopia will provide a platform for your students to interact with industry professionals, fostering mentorship and networking connections with peers.
