It is with great pleasure to announce that Landon Epps has made Brookland School History! He is our very first student at Brookland to be awarded through the State of Arkansas, the Seal of Biliteracy, in English and American Sign Language! Not only that, he is one of the very first to be awarded throughout the entire state of Arkansas!
This Seal of Biliteracy recognizes that students are able to read, write, as well as converse as a bilingual person at a proficient to advanced level in two or more languages.
This May, we will be awarding a total of three students for being recipients of this prestigious award this 2023-2024 school year! Jasmin Reyes and Ana Sauceda have also received this great honor of the AR Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish and English in November of 2023!
Congratulations for this excellent achievement! Here's the Kait8 news interview with Landon https://www.kait8.com/2024/04/26/brookland-student-signs-his-way-history/

Last night at Harmony Gardens, OCS, a National Organization hosted an event in Jonesboro that recognized people who have chosen the Military as their Career after High School. If you were someone you were there, the Mayor, every general in the State, and every person from across Northeast Arkansas that have decided to make the Military a part of their life after High School. It was their way of saying thank you. We had 5 individuals that have made the decision
1. Alix Wilkey- US Army National Guard (Supply Specialist)
2. Manning Mcafee- US Navy Seals (Seal Team)
3. Kyle Reed- US Army National Guard (Combat Engineer)
4. Will Hatfield- US Army (3 year scholarship to Arkansas State University)
5. Katie Thomas- US Navy (4 year scholarship to the Citadel)
Less than 1 percent of our population decide to serve in the Military. These 5 individuals have made that decision. Bearcat Proud!

We learn about the magical beginning of Neverland; we learn how Peter Pan transformed from a nameless orphan to the leader of the Lost Boys. We learn how a pirate called Black Stache lost his hand and became Hook. We learn about Tinkerbell, Wendy’s mother, and mermaids.

As we near the end of the school year, it is that time again to nominate an "Educator of the Year" for each building.
Anyone can be an "educator" when they have a positive impact on the students and school whether it is in the areas of academics, athletics, or social/emotional growth.
Students, staff, parents, and community members are welcome to submit this form. We want everyone's input. The deadline to submit is April 19th.
