Congressman Rick Crawford visited with our civics classes last week. He spoke on the importance of the Constitution and answered several questions from a student panel, as well as questions from the student audience. This was the culminating point for our Celebrate Freedom Week and Constitution Day. He brought Constitutions to give to each student as well as speaking in the assembly.

This past Friday students and staff wore college shirts to GEAR UP for College the upcoming College Application Campaign. For the next two months, high schools across the state will host events to assist students with the college application process. Our school will participate in the College Application Campaign effort to ensure that all members of our senior class have the opportunity to apply to colleges. To us, college means any education program beyond high school, including certificate programs, two-year degree programs, and four-year degree programs. For many students, particularly those who do not have an immediate family member who attended college, applying to college can be overwhelming — having someone to encourage and help them navigate the college application process can open the door for students to pursue post-secondary education.
