JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -
Brookland elementary students raised money for the Jonesboro Animal Control penny by penny. The students raised money to help Animal Control on their new fencing project. In just two weeks, kindergarten through third graders raised more than $1,000 in their Pennies for Paws program.
Gaven Summers told Region 8 News why it was important to help out. “These dogs, and cats, and snakes don't have homes,” Summers said. “People that are mean to them, it's really mean to be mean to them." Students presented animal control with the check on Wednesday. Because of the students, the animals will have much more room to play in a fenced area outside.
